Kambria: Can Robotics Triumph With An Open-source Platform?

The power of open source is the power of the people.

We have seen open-source programs spur the growth of the niche concerned. From programming to printing, open-source platforms are doing great things. But can this success be replicated in robotics? Kambria tends to think so.

What Is Kambria?

It’s an open-source platform dedicated to the progress of the robotics industry.

The platform combines the efficacy of blockchain with the current realities in robotics.

Kambria’s claims are interesting. Let’s assess the platform. The Facts
Kambria is bringing blockchain to robotics. Though open-source, Kambria won’t go cap in hand begging for resources to keep the platform running.

To avoid the calamity of relying on donations, Kambria is plying the cryptocurrency route.

The open-source platform will have its cryptocurrency, KAT.

Contributors will be incentivized using KAT. The cryptocurrency can then be traded for whatever the holder desires.

What counts as value on Kambria isn’t the same on other open-source platforms. On Kambria, everyone involved in the robot deployment chain gets a slice of KAT for their effort. So whether you manufactured the robot, wrote the design, or just vetted the design – you’re getting rewarded.

Kambria caters to all aspects of the robotics deployment chain.
Including the fabrication phase.

Manufacturers can organize bounty programs on Kambria. The catch is KAT remains one of the accepted cryptocurrencies. The higher the stakes – as more parties get involved – the greater the token utility.

Manufacturers Parlay

Kambria also provides manufacturers with a sophisticated way to communicate, share resources, and more. The open-source platform removes the obstacle of distance while bringing like-minded experts together.

A Robotic Labor Force

While we’re still scared of robots taking our jobs, Kambria is gearing up for life with a robotic labor force.

Purchasing a robot outrightly isn’t within everyone’s means. So Kambria’s is pushing a Rent-A-Robot program.

Anyone can rent a robot for specific tasks. Community driven
Kambria isn’t open-source in name only. It’s reflected in its community.

Kambria picks up some of the attributes of blockchain projects. One of such is how the community calls the shots. Fee sharing, incentivizing and the general governance of the Kambria platform are decided by community votes.

Legal Protection

Every open-source platform has struggled with freeloaders. There are people always looking to leverage other people’s works without giving back to the community or seeing the owner is adequately compensated. Kambria plans to prevent such an onslaught. The open-source platform will have a dedicated legal team to ensure general compliance. Violators will have the full wrath of the law brought upon them.

As usual, cases of violation can be created by Community members. The actual flagging of a violation can be done by anyone. If a case will approach the courts, then fundraising will be done. KAT will play a role in making this happen.

The Code Base

Every open-source platform has a database of different designs submitted by experts, amateurs, and more. Kambria is no exception. The robotics open-source platform has Code Base as its repository of different fabrications. Since designs created are made public, resources are dedicated to something else. If it’s Code Base, you don’t have to recreate it.

Code Base is powered by contributors

As more people add their modules to the Code Base, the more helpful it gets. Submissions are incentivized when someone triggers the URI of the module. That’s where Kambria trumps its peers in the open-source world.

Final Thoughts

Theoretically, Kambria can bring robotics to the open-source world.

Yet, there’s that niggling doubt on how this transforms into a reality. Fortunately, the Kambria team has a wealth of experience to navigate this gridlock.
